2015 Ontario Curriculum Update

The revised Canada and World Studies curriculum for grades 11 and 12 in Ontario was released in July 2015. Happily, Economics for Canadians meets every expectation of the updated CIA4U economics course. In addition, the book also examines the balance of payments and current account imbalances, topics which are not curricular expectations of the course.

A thorough listing of the curricular objectives of the CIA4U course set against the relevant lessons in the book can be found here:

2015 CIA4U Curriculum Objectives and Corresponding Lessons in Economics for Canadians

Many schools in the province (and in B.C. and P.E.I.) have already adopted the book. The full listing of these schools can be found here:

Meanwhile, at OBEA and OHASSTA conferences in 2012, 2013 and 2014 inspection copies of the book were distributed to teachers. A reasonably comprehensive listing of the schools that received one (or, in some cases, more than one) inspection copy can be found here:

If you are interested in learning more about the book, please either have a look at a copy already held by a colleague in your school or school board, or pop me an email requesting an inspection set consisting of one copy of the student workbook and one copy of the teachers’ guide, sent to you for the very reasonable price of $50 inclusive of delivery.
